My new Windows 7 PC recognizes the HP 712 (using the generic HP 710 driver) but nothing will print. Other old printers may have similar issues. The cable has to connected directly to the printer, not to the old printer cable. It appears the driver that worked with XP doesn't work with the 64 bit Windows 7.
and it shipped here way within the due date. Worked Perfectly. I can now use my HP Laserjet 5P and the weird thing is that vista actually found the driver for it, so im pretty positive windows 7 will work with it as well.
The driver disc is useless. The cord is also so small as to be ridiculous.DO NOT BUY THIS WORTHLESS CABLE. Nothing on this thing works. BAFO's website support is useless.
your printer must be right next to your PC/laptop and on the appropriate side in order to connect to your preferred USB port. beware, the cable on this is only 3 feet. There is a reason the price is so low.
Suspect it is a lack of Vista compatible drivers from HP that is the source my my problem. Too bad,. Cable is well made, but unfortunately, it did not solve my problem of making my HP4 laser printer work with my new computer that uses Vista. So the cable will go into my box full of things I no longer need.
